When I was given this glider to demo by Steve Pearson and Matt Taber they never told me what it was. It is my impression that this is a really sweet glider that will be well liked by other pilots and combines some of the best features of the previous models. I think this glider makes me about as comfortable as i will ever be on tow in turbulent conditions with a hang glider. Being a sailplane pilot and flying a hang glider on tow always creates a little more anxiety for me because you don't have the precision that 3 axis controls give for formation flying. I corrected and the Falcon 4 righted itself to just where I wanted it without any fussing and yawing almost like it had 3 axis controls. At one point on one of the tows at about 20 feet on takeoff I was knocked over into a 20-30 degree bank by a gust. I was fortunate to have this glider for about 8 circuit tows and it proved to be very comfortable in some really turbulent condition. Also at higher speeds like on landing it seemed to track really well without oscillating around. Off tow it seem to track really well and I felt very comfortable with the amount stiffness in the glider ie: not to light but just right. It did not seem to yaw around and oscillate as much even though it did not even have a tail fin installed. My first flight was in some fairly rowdy air and what impressed me at the start was how well the falcon 4 tracked on tow compared to the falcon 3 I had flown. I have to say that the Falcon 4 really impressed me and I think Steve has done a great job of refining this great design. I did my first solo aero towing flights on a Falcon 1 and then some on a Falcon 3 so I have some perspective on how the different models fly. I also have 1000 hours of sailplane time and am a sailplane instructor. I am an experienced pilot who is getting back into the sport after not flying for many years. I was fortunate enough to get some flights on a new Wills Wing Falcon 4 at Lookout Mountain last week. Here is what I wrote on the Oz report forum. I got to fly the Falcon 4 195 at Lookout this week.
